The Springs Living is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented person to join our Accounting Team in the position of

SeniorAccountant - Contruction & Fixed Assets. This is a team that genuinely cares about each other. We are not only committed to working hard, but we enjoy ourselves while doing it!

The senior accountantis responsible for managing the job cost accounting and reporting process from beginning to end for allconstruction and capital spending projects, ensuring theyare recorded and tracked accurately and timely, closing projects to assets or expense according to GAAP guidelines, and providing relevant reporting to project managers and senior management. They are also responsible for maintaining the fixed asset system, and supporting the accurate and timely closing of the books of all legal entities. This position requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles,familiarity withjob cost accounting functions, and strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. This position works very closely with the development and capex teams, and the other members of the accounting team.

Specific responsibilities include:

  1. Maintain the job cost accounting system to effectively track and report all contruction and capex project actual spending against budgets and contracts.
  2. Process final approval of vendor/subcontractor invoices, providing support to AP and Project Managers, to ensure timely approval, accurate coding, and adherence to established budgets andpro formas.
  3. Support the development and capex teams in the purchase order process, including final approving and issuing purchase orders to vendors.
  4. Prepare construction draws and compile detailed supporting documentation for CFO approval and submission to lenders and equity partners.
  5. Provide assistance to Lenders/Investors with any questions or additional information required for draw approval.
  6. Coordinate the timely payment of construction payables in conjunction with receipt of draw frunds.
  7. Actively participate in Development and Capex meetings.
  8. Provide support to project managers and senior management by providing effective reporting and analysis.
  9. Capitalize project assets timely and within GAAP guidelines, proactively coordinating with Project Managers.
  10. Work with other senior accountants to ensure books are closed timely and accurately.
  11. Continually look for and implement process improvements, working with cross functional teams as appropriate.
  12. Ensure supervisor is regularly and promptly informed of work status and any issues for which guidance is necessary.
  13. Complete special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of5 years accounting experience.
  • Construction and fixed asset accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and application ofaccounting principles (GAAP) and internal control procedures.
  • Experience with a complex, multi-entity organization structure preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with team members, peers and management.
  • Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines, by utilizing strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with Job Cost Accounting Software preferred.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook applications.
  • Demonstrated advanced problem solving, analysisand critical thinking skills.
