JOB DESCRIPTION:

Youth ERA (YE) is seeking a young adult-aged peer who can lead, support, motivate, and inspire an energetic team of staff as the program manager of The Coos Bay Drop Center. The Coos Bay Drop Center is open to youth and young adult participants ages 14-25, many of whom experience challenges related to mental health, oppression, addictions/recovery, and other system involvement. The Coos Bay Drop Center staff provides innovative peer support to participants and assists them in building leadership skills, goal-setting, improving their communities, and fostering a successful transition to adulthood. Reporting to the peer services manager, you will be responsible for supervising 2-4 employees. As a supervisor, you will be required to assign duties, schedule meetings, provide coaching, and discipline employees as needed. Furthermore, you will maintain communication with youth participants and their families, as well as network and build relationships with community partners and professionals.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Position Title: Program Manager

Compensation: $34,320 - $39,520 / Annual D.O.E

Work Schedule: 40 hrs/wk (hours vary)

Location: Coos Bay

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The program manager organizes and executes:

- Weekly staff meetings and regular supervisory meetings

- Weekly leadership groups

- Evening and weekend events and activities

- Staff and participant trips and transportation

At the Coos Bay Drop Center, the program manager:

- Meets with participants and their families during the enrollment phase to review expectations and address questions

- Shares their lived experience and provides support to participants as they navigate the system(s) they participate in (mental health, education, foster care, juvenile justice, etc.)

- Monitors the physical and emotional safety, appropriateness, applicability, and engagement of participants and interrupt oppressive and inappropriate behavior

The program manager communicates and keeps documentation on:

- Weekly supervisory meetings

- Participant, staff, contractor, and community partner interactions (these documents may be used for official purposes)

- Any data related to goal setting/meeting

Utilizing their specific training, the program manager:

- Schedules meetings or additional communication regarding support, resources, or crisis intervention as necessary

- Represents YE when tabling or presenting at community events, or in any interaction with local, state or national agencies and institutions

- Networks and maintains positive relationships with community partners and agencies

- Recruits, interviews, and hires (or signs-up) employees and volunteers

To meet objectives set by the board of directors and the administrative team, the program manager:

- Communicates with their supervisor about program developments and needs

- Collects paperwork and complies with confidentiality procedures, tracks attendance of youth and volunteers, and inputs data into data tracking software

- Completes quarterly reports for contractors

- Coordinates groups and activities that are within a strict budget

- Facilitates and supervises conflict resolution between staff, volunteers, and/or participants to resolve problems, complaints, or grievances

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Leadership skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Outstanding oral/written communication skills and strong organizational skills.

Demonstrated understanding of cultural responsiveness/competence.

Excellent advocacy and public speaking skills.

Identification as a peer with lived experience in youth/young adult-serving systems (i.e. mental health care, addiction/recovery, juvenile justice, Oregon Youth Authority, foster care).

Multilingualism (especially in Spanish and English).

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent leadership, and added supervisory or managerial experience.

Ability to travel and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and car insurance.

Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

First Aid Certification

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification

Oregon Food Handlers Card
