CODA has served Greater Portland for 50 years, providing compassionate, evidence-based care for people whose life and health are challenged by alcohol, drugs and mental health conditions.

The Seaside community is welcoming this new location with enthusiasm, and has collaborated with CODA to bring about this important and needed addition to their vibrant home city.

The Seaside clinic is a state-of-the-art outpatient location designed to provide medication-assisted treatment (methadone, buprenorphine, long acting naltrexone) for adults with opiate use disorders. CODA is building a high-energy team of professionals dedicated to treating the individual, wiping out stigma, and helping to rebuild the health and lives of the people they serve.

CODA Seaside is currently looking for a full-time Environmental Safety Technician to join our team. In this position, you would fulfill the following essential functions:Monitor clinic lobby (and external surroundings) to discourage loitering and ensure appropriate patient behavior, documenting concerns and notifying supervisor as needed.

Respond to emergencies per site procedures.

Monitor assigned areas (interior and exterior) including, milieu, lobby, hallways, and exterior grounds; report fire, vandalism, unusual or suspicious circumstances, or hazards to supervisor for correction or follow-up action.

Advise Treatment Team members of observations of patient behaviors that are of concern related to participation in treatment. Document such concerns on Incident Report when directed by a supervisor.

Assist with patient-run community meetings as necessary.

Inspect and clean interior patient area, including lobby and public restrooms. Sweep, vacuum and/or mop floors in primary patient areas as needed during the workday to ensure safety and provide a professional environment. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies.

Input information from external sources into patient electronic medical record. Communicate data errors and inconsistencies to supervisor.

Use data and science to identify barriers, overcome obstacles, and inform decisions.

Be financially responsible; avoid waste, document accurately, seek new opportunities to serve.

Demonstrate compassion and respect for others.

Generate a sense of hope and optimism in your work.

Those with the following qualifications and experience are encouraged to apply:Must have high school diploma or GED.

Additional coursework, training, or work experience in substance abuse or detoxification treatment.

A minimum of one year work experience in a clinical, medical, residential, office, or similar work environment as a member of a work team.

Ability to be attentive to and identify high risk situations, communicating with the appropriate channels in a timely manner.

Ability to intervene in such a way that demonstrates sensitivity and respect while keeping a clear line of communication between supervisor and treatment team.

Ability to demonstrate a non-judgmental and respectful attitude with patients at all times.

Ability to assess patient needs and establish linkage between patients and resources in a coordinated, effective, and efficient manner.

Recognize and respect cultural and personal differences in interactions with patients.
