Mechanical Engineer

Portland Consulting Company seeking a capable Mechanical Engineer.

Preferably with UG NX experience.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

In support of product development, you will provide mechanical engineering with responsibility for the design of industrial machines; design products, machines and test equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Learn and review existing mechanical systems and equipment in order to provide necessary changes. Changes may include part adaptation, process improvements and cost reduction.

- Responsible for the static and dynamic design and analysis of industrial machines.

- Develop documentation required to support manufacturing, assembly, and system performance verification (this includes 2D and 3D CAD files, test documentation, manufacturing and/or assembly instructions, troubleshooting, operating manuals, etc.).

-Work with third-party vendors and suppliers to coordinate and direct services, prototypes.

-Fabrication and obtain purchased components as required.

-Detailed documentation, including engineering drawings, reports and other required documentation.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and related work experience; preference given to candidates with machinery experience.

- Design experience using a 3D CAD system; must be proficient in Siemens NX.

- Demonstrated ability to design machine and sheet metal parts for a diverse set of projects, including prototyping.

- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.

- Demonstrated ability to take initiative to identify and solve complex system level issues.

- Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.

- Basic computer literacy skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, basic file structure understanding, networks, and web navigation.
