Position Scope:

Our client has an immediate need for a Senior DevOps Engineer. The company is growing rapidly, and leveraging Big Data platforms (Solr, Hadoop, etc.) to sustain this growth-you'll be responsible for innovating and maturing their release process across multiple technologies, environments, and locations. They are looking for someone who is excited about improving build and release processes, increasing the productivity of technology teams, and reducing the time it takes to implement and deploy releases. They need someone with the ability and desire to continuously learn new technologies and processes, and take the lead in integrating those in their development cycle.

Requirements:

Strong background in managing revision control systems (SVN, Git, etc.)

Experience managing continuous integration systems (Jenkins, Hudson, etc.)

Experience with automated configuration management and deployment tools (Puppet, Chef, SaltStack, etc.)

Background working in a multi-platform environment (Linux, Windows)

Experience with builds and packaging in a Linux/Java environment strongly preferred (Maven, rpm, etc.)

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, and working with a structured change management process

Broad range of programming/scripting experience (i.e. Python, Ruby, GO, etc.)

Experience with technologies to create and manage virtual development environments (e.g., Vagrant) a bonus

Experience with containerization and scheduling (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

Experience with Solr or Elasticsearch

Strong interpersonal skills

A can-do attitude and sense of urgency for a high growth/fast paced environment

Proven track record of leading implementation of release engineering best practices, both processes and technologies

BS in Computer Science or equivalent

Curious mind, wanting to learn new technologies

The ability to think outside of the box to resolve issues and create solutions
