Actalent Services Client is looking to add two new Lab Technicians to their team!Description:OVERVIEW:The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for assisting in sample receiving and disposal. All employees must work in a safe manner in accordance with the Health and Safety Program.JOB DUTIES: Perform testing for oil and fuel components that get sent in from clients' cars (analogy used was "blood test but for a car") Ensure testing is performed according to approved procedures Utilize instrumentation and machinery (GCMS, ICP, FTIR) Sample preparation for testing, analysis on samples via wet chemistry Know and follow company policies and procedures Assist with document archival and department metrics, data entry Assist with inventory and laboratory upkeep and maintenance of lab equipment Follow safety procedures Carry out advanced testing protocols and procedures as directed Intake of raw materials Working on SOPS Pipetting Titration Viscosity checks (density and thickness of a liquid sample) Quality control checks, inventory checks Sample collection and transportation, pipette and transfer about 500-600 samples a day Lifting/moving up to 50 lbs Majority of this job will be on your feet or at a computerSCHEDULE: SWING Shift: Monday - Friday, 12:00 PM - 8:30 PMInstrumentation explained: GCMS - Gas-Chromatography Mass Spectrometry - Analytical method that combines the features of gas-chromatography and mass spectrometry to identify different substances within a test sample, normally performed by a machine ICP - Inductively Coupled Plasma - ICP analysis, is a chemical method which can be used to identify both trace amounts and major concentrations of nearly all elements within a sample. FTIR - Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer - Identifies chemical bonds in a molecule by producing an infrared absorption spectrum. The spectra produce a profile of the sample, a distinctive molecular fingerprint that can be used to screen and scan samples for many different components.Additional Skills & Qualifications:MUST HAVES for Lab Tech High school diploma Some sort of lab experience (educational level is fine) Experience with Microsoft Office for data entry (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Ability to stay on feet for majority of day, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs Ability to work with and multi task in a high volume lab (500-600 samples a day)MUST HAVES for Lab Tech II: Lab experience specifically with chemistry instrumentation (such as GCMS, FTIR, HPLC, ICP, etc.)About Actalent: Actalent connects passion with purpose.
