Develop complete layout and engineering drawings of a variety of components and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software

Create and modify detailed drawings from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering

Determine scaling, inserts, necessary reference planes, centering and dimension lines, hidden line interpolations, and sectioning

Apply a practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, machine tools, fabrication equipment, and inspection techniques to the preparation of models and drawings

Obtain proper information for drawings from department manuals, standard books, engineering reference handbooks, material and process specifications, supplier catalogs, etc. to determine dimensions, tolerances, finishes, etc. Determine proper methods based on established practices or procedures

Work with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECO documentation

Ensure accuracy and completeness of models and drawings with all necessary views and illustrations. Convey all engineering and manufacturing data and acceptance criteria neatly and accurately in accordance with drafting standards and practices

Investigate shop and supply management issues caused by drawing information and determine the solution and make proper corrections. Refer complicated design/standard manufacturing procedure issues to a supervisor

Maintain a library of standard drawing templates

Maintain and utilize the Product Life Cycle Manager (PLM) system for searching storage, retrieval, and release of databases

May provide training and support to lower-level drafters as needed

What You Bring:

6+ years of experience as a CAD drafter or similar.

Strong working knowledge of CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.

Working knowledge of SolidWorks PDM

Associate degree in design drafting focused on mechanical equipment design or the equivalent.

Knowledge of engineering practices and industry standards

Ability to analyze design sketches and specifications to create technical drawings.

Strong attention to detail to ensure drawings are accurate according to specifications.

Detail oriented with the ability to learn on the fly.

Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with engineers and other professionals.

Time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects and competing deadlines.

Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a personnel security clearance
