Inside the Service Reliability Engineering team at Transunion you'll be focused on improving the customer experience of Transunion's products by improving their availability, reliability and sustainability alongside our development teams. What You'll Bring:

General understanding of the following with deep knowledge of 2:
  • Kubernetes: cluster provisioning and deploying new services
  • Advanced configuration management. Ex: Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Salt
  • Advanced operating system (Linux) configuration, package management, startup and troubleshooting
  • Practical knowledge of shell scripting and at least one higher-level language (Python, Go, Ruby, Java, or similar)
  • Log shipping pipelines
  • Provisioning and setting up metrics Ex: Prometheus and/or Grafana
  • Jenkins CI/CD configuration, pipelines, and jobs
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, architecture, and core technologies (such as DNS, DHCP, HTTPS)

We'd prefer to see:
  • Demonstrated experience building or maintaining highly available systems at scale.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines that support a SaaS product.
  • Experience with capacity planning practices or methodologies.
  • Experience using Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms in a production setting.
  • Experience in networking (things like load balancing, BGP, etc.).
  • Experience with practical InfoSec (like threat modeling and host hardening).

Impact You'll Make:

  • Fill in and lead team for short periods.
  • Work autonomously with no regular need for review.
  • Act as expert on multiple systems. Help make strategic decisions around major components.
  • Fully participate in on-call rotation (rotation is one week on call approximately every 9 weeks).
  • Elevate the standards through new tooling, processes, procedures and effective communication. Carry out research, testing, implementation and improvement for new systems.
  • Lead high risk maintenance with limited to no customer impact.
  • Significant technical contributor to problem resolution; demonstrate consistent maturity in communication and demeanor under stress.
  • Perform more complex work like capacity planning, load testing, security improvements, etc.
  • Set new professional standards for the team.
