Maintenance Generalist - Stephens Creek Crossing

Home Forward is currently seeking a Maintenance Generalist at our Stephens Creek Crossing (SCC) property to work in collaboration with our Property Management staff, residents, and other organizational stakeholders.

SCC features a combination of 122 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom flats and townhomes; 17 of the apartments have physical accommodations for accessibility.

The Maintenance Generalist performs a wide range unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor tasks to ensure that the agency's apartment communities are safe and sanitary places to live and work, efficient to operate and assets to their neighborhoods.

Some of the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

1. Prepare vacant apartment units for resident occupancy. Tasks include but are not limited to:

Cleaning and sanitizing all apartment surfaces;

Cleaning, sweeping, mopping and/or vacuuming all floor surfaces; scrubbing composite flooring and cove base; removing all wax build up, cleaning and applying new wax; vacuuming and shampooing all carpeted areas and spot treating stains

Washing walls and ceilings; scraping and removing all tape, decals or foreign debris to prep for painting/varnishing

Preparing surfaces for painting; painting vacant units

Cleaning all interior and exterior doors and windows

Assist property manager and/or Maintenance Generalist III in unit inspections

2. Clean and sanitize property common areas including community rooms, offices, restrooms, laundry rooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators and lobbies; sweep, mop, polish, strip, wax and buff using commercial grade equipment.

3. Monitor and maintain property landscape and curb appeal by:

Operating a variety of power equipment (e.g., standing and riding lawnmower, edger, hedge trimmer, blower) and a variety of hand tools (e.g., rake, shovel, broom, trimmer, pole saw, lopper) to perform the following landscape tasks: mowing, weeding, raking, edging, sweeping sidewalks, spreading bark dust, planting, watering and trimming plants, flowers and shrubs; planting and weeding grass areas;

Pressure washing building exteriors and trash enclosures and dumpsters;

Cleaning sidewalks, playgrounds and outside areas; blowing down parking lots and walkways;

Shoveling snow from walkways and driveways; spreading sand and de-icing chemicals as needed.

4. Monitor, maintain and repair exterior areas of buildings (e.g., clean gutters, roofs, sumps, and perform graffiti abatement tasks etc.).

5. Clean up and dispose of hazardous waste materials such as syringes, needles, condoms, blood and feces. Dispose of hazardous materials properly.

6. Interact with residents, coworkers, supervisor and others in a professional manner.

7. Order and maintain inventory of supplies and participate in site inventories of supplies and equipment .

8. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

The pay rate for this position is $20.90 per hour and it will close on Thursday, June 24th. While primarily located at SCC, this position may require work at our other properties.
