Independent Contractor needed. Will lease my new large Ford Transit 350 van and make on demand deliveries for Direct Transport as my Independent Contractor. Paid per delivery. Will need smart phone to accept job orders from dispatch. Must understand traffic patterns and ways of getting around town to do pickups and deliveries. Prior delivery skills needed though a lot will be learned through trial and error as you learn to make more money by honing your skills. Skilled drivers gross on average about $250 a day. Minus gas, insurance and vehicle lease.
Duties include making yourself available to dispatch around 7:00 AM M-F at your desired location, usually where you live and then accepting job orders as they come in and making professional pickups and deliveries which often include multiple ones. Orders include something as a small package from Nike to a couple of pallets weighing a ton. The orders stop coming in usually between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. Okay to let dispatch know prior to when you plan to take time off or have a short day.
If this type of work seems like a good fit: challenges of finding businesses, shipper or receiver, getting around town and the greater outskirts in a timely manner, overcoming whatever obstacle comes your way, being focused and being able to refocus, seeing possible problems before they develop so as to have an idea of alternative actions, learning from mistakes and hard ways of doing things to more efficient ones then this might be for you.
Will give on the job training which does not include being paid but is essential for you to learn which usually is two days of riding with me as I do deliveries. Ideally train this week and will be ready to work next week!
