Oregon Cherry Growers, one of the top fruit packaging companies in the U.S., is seeking Maintenance Mechanics for our year-round facility in Salem, Oregon.
The Maintenance Mechanic will install, troubleshoot and repair equipment (production and other), plant facilities, forklifts and other types of mobile equipment as directed by the Plant Manager or Maintenance Supervisor. Monitor the condition of equipment and be alert to conditions requiring repair, whether immediate or in the future.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years experience as a Mechanic or a similar technical position. Associates degree from a mechanical, electrical, or electronic technology program may be substituted for one year of required experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in at least six of the following skills: electrical, welding, lift truck mechanics, plumbing/pipe fitting, heating/air conditioning systems, boiler care and maintenance, instrument repair, machine adjustment and repair, and carpentry.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Demonstrates excellent safety record and follows all Good Manufacturing Practices.

Physical Requirements
Frequent physical activity includes standing, kneeling, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds, climbing and close vision. Moderate physical activity includes walking, bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, sitting, touching, reaching, gripping with hands and fingers, and climbing stairs.
Environmental Factors
Working conditions include exposure to plant temperature extremes, dampness, humidity, outdoor weather, dust, fumes, chemicals, and high noise levels. Work requires wearing proper protective equipment. Incumbent may work in confined spaces and at high elevations.
