Please note that this is a 6 months contract position. The electrical designer is responsible for all aspects of a safe electrical design and installation on a given project. Responsibilities would include signal wiring as well as power and grounding. Specific role tasks include designing, drafting, checking, creating Bills of Materials (BOM’s), change management, part specification, drawing revision records, compliance to company standards, standard design creation and reuse, and document control. Designer will gather information from multiple sources including other disciplines, vendors, vendor drawings, engineers, reference drawings and catalogs to produce complete functional, accurate and constructible design packages. Individual must have good interpersonal, teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills.Requirements:Minimum experience: 2 – 3 years.This is a technical position and requires basic knowledge of electricity, instrumentation, and controls. The designer will need a working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NFPA 70), National Electric Safety Code (NFPA 70E), NEMA standards, ANSI standards, IEEE standards, and some IEC symbology and standards.

Position requires computer/CAD skills which include:• The ability to utilize the corporate computing environment, in a responsible manner, to create, store and retrieve project data on a local and global basis.• Understand the structure of the network in order to connect to different servers for the purpose of transferring files to and from other groups and disciplines.• Is aware of corporate computing security requirements and adheres to them.• Utilize the PC's and corporate operating system to access and use the various software packages including Word, Excel, MS Mail (Outlook), MicroStation, MicroStationV7-V8, MicroStation Reprographics, SmartPlant 3D, AutoCad etc., and to input to customized programs, spreadsheets, training databases and project management software. (Note, Proficiency in MicroStationV7-V8 is preferred. Proficiency in SmartPlant 3D and other SmartPlant tools is a plus.)

Principal AccountabilitiesDesigner shall create and design a complete construction or build package that meets the requirements of the project scope, Process & Instrument Diagram (P&ID), electrical load list, and/or shut down table. Designer needs to assure all designs include and meet all safety, process, code requirements, corporate standards, and possibly customer requirements. Designer may need to develop labor estimates, schedules, attend coordination meetings, and handle other design resources as required. Designer may be required to travel to field locations and provide technical services for field activities related to construction, equipment installation, plant modifications, or electrical design issues. Designer will be working on several projects at the same time, so the ability to multitask and to think strategically are critical to success. As the client is a global company, the designer must coordinate work with other regions (Europe, India, China, etc.) and possibly run electrical and instrumentation design work within these other regional organizations. In this tactical role, designer will be responsible for design package deliverables list, track completion of individual drawing deliverables and update lists with actual release dates, all while multi-tasking and working on multiple projects concurrently.

Packages will include:• Plant grounding / grounding grid design and lightning protection.• Single line diagrams (SLDs) and power distribution typically at 15kV and below, including 480VAC 3Phase Motor Control Centers (MCC’s).• Control room, Power Distribution Center (PDC) building, analyzer panels, control panel design, instrument panel design, 120/208VAC 3 Phase power panels and 120/240VAC Single Phase power panel, loading building layout and design.• Cable sizing for medium and low voltage.• Conduit sizing and underground conduit routing and design.• Cable tray layout and sizing for medium voltage, low voltage, and instrumentation.• 120VAC and 24VDC schematics for power, control, and shutdown circuits. This includes hard-wire design and fail-safe operational design for Life Safety (LSS) or safety critical circuits.• DCS panel, PLC panel, junction box, and control layout and schematics is a plus.• AC and DC interconnect wiring as well as cable and conduit schedules for AC and DC wiring.• Instrument loop diagrams as required using ISA figures 1 thru 6 is a plus.• Design of communication systems using, fiber optic cables, profibus, Ethernet, or M-net.• Specification of low voltage transformers and distribution panel boards.• Plant lighting and receptacle layout and design.• Heat tracing power distribution, layout, and design of heat trace circuits & heat trace panels.• Safe installation of vendor supplied systems such as security, CCTV and Fire alarm systems.• Field inspection of plant sites and equipment (minimal travel but could be up to 5% of time).• Analyzer tubing and analyzer panel design, including mechanical BOM’s is a plusApplicants must provide their phone number.
