Please note that this is a 1 year contract position.The client is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer Lead in its GlobalEngineering organization to help us on this mission at either our Allentown,Pennsylvania or Houston, Texas office. The Mechanical Systems Engineeringgroup is responsible for piping materials, manual valves,insulation, paint & coatings, and cooling water system design among otheritems.
Responsibilities include:Self-execute multiple concurrent piping material engineering projectsunder general supervisionAnalyze schedules and budgets to set your own prioritiesProactively collaborate with internal AP teams to meet projectcommitments, costs, and schedulesPrepare project work using internal standards, industry practices, andpersonal experience to ensure a safe designDevelop and apply piping material classes based on product and projectrequirementsSpecify insulation, paint, and protective coatings on Piping &Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Line ListsSelect and specify manual valves and piping specialty itemsPrepare pressure test diagrams and specificationsOccasionally travel to support client's global engineering teamsOther duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field10 years’ experience in industrial piping engineeringStrong technical skills in specification of piping systems and manualvalvesDemonstrated understanding of ASME B31 and other piping codesStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsAbility to travel domestically or internationally to company offices,vendor shops, and project sites. Travel is expected to be up to 10%Preferred:Experience in hydrogen, syngas, and ammonia piping systemsExperience with Hexagon SmartPlant software tools - P&ID, Materials,Reference DataProfessional Engineer LicenseProject Management Professional (PMP) CertificationEPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) experienceApplicants must provide their phone number.
