Apex Systems is working with a progressive, global leader in the coatings industry who is growing and planning for their future. We are looking for a Quality Manager. This position is located in the Greater Philadelphia area. Quality Manager Summary Job Description: The Quality Systems Manager leads the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions companywide at two locations. This position has a high level of involvement driving our cost of quality KPI's, maintaining our annual ISO certification; emphasis on statistical monitoring and analysis; may provide product/process support, and liaise with Commercial, Manufacturing, Engineering, Production Control, Technical Service and Maintenance. This is an essential position for crafting KPI strategies to measure effectiveness of improving the quality of our products and process efficiency. Essential Functions:

  • Manages the department and reports to the Sr. Director of Operations to assure adequate staffing and training plans for the QC/QA Department.
  • Effectively directs activities in the QC/QA department to ensure safety and efficient productivity of staff.
  • Produces reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends.
  • Continually evaluates QC/QA systems and processes to develop improvement plans.
  • Ensures good communication and cooperation within department and other stakeholder groups. Works closely with Technical Service, Manufacturing, and Commercial groups to address customer complaints and improve product quality.
Quality Assurance
  • Leads companywide Quality Assurance Program
  • Develops and implements testing protocols for incumbent & new raw materials
  • Manages the company Quality Management System to ensure ISO compliance and achieve company Quality objectives
  • Manages staff and directs activities to ensure:
  • Effective leadership for adherence to the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) process. Oversight of the customer complaint process; coordination of non-conformances and complaint investigation review with Process, Manufacturing, and Technical Service. Communicate complaint results to customer or commercial team as necessary.
  • Provides visibility of these KPI's for Management Review meetings.
  • Processes are delivering their intended outputs
  • Promotes customer focus throughout the organization
  • Facilitates all compliance with internal, external, and/or customer audits
  • Overall administration of document control as related to QMS
Quality Control
  • Directs the QC function for manufacturing. May be required to step in for the QC Supervisor for seamless coverage.
  • Monitors and develops programs to ensure testing accuracy and efficiency, in collaboration with R&D/Technical Service and Operations as necessary.
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine quality acceptance standards.
  • Conducts monthly SQC/1st Pass Rate review with process/ mfg/ production control to identity product and process improvement opportunities.
  • Trains, motivates, and develops staff
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Must be very comfortable using and understanding statistical analysis methods.
  • Above average computer skills, demonstrated skill in using an ERP system and QMS in an ISO environment
  • 5 - 7 years' experience in management, working in a quality focused role supervising in a manufacturing arena.
  • Excellent communication skills, leadership ability, team player mentality.
