- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Prefer a Electrical Engineer
- Accepted degrees include electrical engineering & mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a design environment
- Experience in testing large, complex systems
- Experience in managing large data sets
- Experience in using a variety of test instruments and data acquisition systems.
- Prior exposure to a manufacturing environment
- Strong project management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Engineer should have good project management and organization skills, experience in using a variety of test instruments and data acquisition systems (for current, voltage, temperature, pressure, flow, stress, strain, vibration, etc.), ability to create and effectively evaluate large data sets, and demonstrate good communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Effective team player and facilitator
- Perform bench-testing and on-locomotive validation and effectively communicate results
- Engineer shall have experience in testing systems with varying complexity and shall have a working knowledge in handling large data files to derive conclusions.
- Ensure appropriate use of instrumentation to collect required data
- Evaluate large data sets to recognize trends, formulate conclusions and provide recommendations
- Participate in system level FMEA’s and system safety analyses
- Conduct design reviews and defend recommendations
- Use data from fielded locomotives to provide duty cycles for subsystem and component design inputs
- Lead the verification and validation of locomotive system designs
- Develop, author and manage thorough test plans to achieve assigned objectives
- Coordinate with the labs to ensure proper installation and set-up of test benches
