- Over 3yrs would be good. If the candidate has the right attitude/drive, over 1yr should be enough.
- Minimum 1yr experience using Linux, Unix is a MUST.
- Most of the remote work needs QNX use which is very similar to Linux/Unix environment.
- Responsible for daily monitoring of the health of equipment that is installed on-board locomotives to support Remote Diagnostics, and troubleshooting for OBINC equipment and applications
- Answer client issues with equipment in question and provide resolution and to issues when possible or escalate.
- Actively analyze data that is sent from the locomotive on-board system to the IT off-board system to determine the operational health of the various applications hosted on the on-board hardware
- Perform data mining on a daily basis (on existing IT databases) on the data that is received from the on-board system to analyze & isolate failure modes in the field
- Perform root-cause analysis and work with field service teams (where needed) to facilitate capture of the required debug information from affected units
- Fix malfunctioning units remotely (where appropriate)
- Work closely with the appropriate Systems and Software Engineers to develop mitigation strategies and actively support the engineering team in their root-cause analysis effort
- Once root-cause has been identified & fix implemented, work with field team to validate and confirm resolution of the defect in the field
- Actively lead the deployment of software upgrades to field units
- Participate when needed as a presenter or reviewer in meetings with field services, engineering or client.
- Provide daily/weekly reports (availability, defects, etc) to field services, engineering, client as per agreed format. This can be modified as the team comes up with new information and method to communicate.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments to field services team, engineering team, client.
