Job Description

SUMMARY

Laboratory Technician needed in fast past contract testing laboratory to perform the functions of assisting with sample preparation and/or analysis of a wide variety of sample matrices in support of ICP-MS and ICP-OES testing.

REPORTING LINE

Directly reports to the Lead Chemist – Prep lab

Dotted reporting line to the Lab Operations Manager

JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepares and analyzes samples using internal laboratory or compendial methodologies.

Exhibits excellent laboratory skills in the use of balances, pipettes, and glassware.

Safely handles organic solvents, corrosive acids, bases and other chemicals in the laboratory.

Maintains meticulous records following cGMP documentation practices.

Follows all safety protocols appropriate for the laboratory environment.

Maintains strong attention to detail while performing in a fast-paced environment

Able to prioritize work with good time management skills.

Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

This position may evolve to include Instrument Lab and/or supervisory duties in the future.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

· Associate’s degree in a physical science (e.g., Chemistry)

· 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting

Preferred:

· Experience in Analytical Chemistry and sample preparation in an ICP-MS laboratory

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

Language Skills: Ability to understand and communicate with coworkers with vocabulary knowledge of general laboratory equipment and analytical units.

Mathematical Skills: Basic skills needed for data analysis

Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate skill needed

Computer Skills: Ability to use basic word processing, email and spreadsheet programs

High level of detail needed for this job.
