Job Description

Job Summary:

The Maintenance and Reliability Technician (MRT) is a multi-skill role that involves supporting various areas of maintenance management, maintenance reliability, and maintenance operations.The distribution of work amongst these areas is dynamic and based on the changing needs of the maintenance department. The primary and initial responsibilities are to support operations with mechanical and electrical maintenance needs.The MRT will also be expected to learn and fulfill additional duties beyond the general maintenance tasks.

Primary and initial job responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance support to site operations in the form of preventative maintenance (PM) and planned work assignments.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and correct equipment breakdowns for both short-term and long-term remediation.
  • Rebuild and repair equipment such as pumps, valves, and other equipment
  • Fabrication of miscellaneous pieces to support operations
  • Measure, cut, thread, and assemble piping systems
  • Active engagement in Maintenance Engineering projects

Future and additional responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Maintenance reliability strategies; including, but not limited to:

    • Mechanical Integrity (MI) initiatives and activities
    • Develop detailed work instructions, including: planned work, PM tasks, standard operating procedures (SOP), and training.
    • Root cause / corrective action.
    • Assist in the development, implementation, and management of predictive maintenance strategies.
    • Participate in the development of and management of planned maintenance shutdowns and outages.
    • Assist in the management of the maintenance CMMS, including: corrections, additions, and improvements.
    • Assist is the management of process safety information (PSI), including: field verifications, PSI development, and correction activities.
    • Support site Management -of-Change (MOC) and Process Safety Startup Reviews (PSSR) policies.
    • Participate in site Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities as needed
    • Conduct training to the Maintenance technicians as needed.

Qualifications

General Requirements:

  • Adhere to and support all site safety initiatives and policies including the demonstration safe work practices with a mindset that zero injuries is possible.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year associate's degree in an industrial Maintenance-related curriculum preferred. Degree should have an emphasis on electrical, mechanical or a combination.
  • 3-5 years of successful work experience as an industrial electrician, mechanic (or combination of the two) or equivalent combination of education and experience .
  • Demonstrate a high level of teamwork, dedication and self-direction.
  • Support diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Ability to adapt to change and shift priorities, both expected and unexpected.
  • Be available for emergency call-ins, including nights and weekends.
  • Computer / software skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Custom Software, etc.).

Preferred Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and/or willingness to receive additional training.
  • Strong electrical aptitude and/or willingness to receive additional training.
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Understanding of root cause/corrective action.
  • Maintenance planning, inventory control and use of CMMS is a plus.
  • Chemical processing and process safety management is a plus.
  • Proficient use of AutoCAD
  • Ability and desire to develop professionally to grow into advanced roles with additional responsibilities.
