SOLUTIONS ARCHITECTSUMMARYReporting to the CTO, this role serves as Solution Architect for a fast growing big data startup and is responsible for designing, creating product architecture while helping to define enterprise direction and standards. You will perform research, technical planning, design architecture, create and modify specifications, and guide development teams to create new products, applications, and service offerings. You will assess the compatibility and integration of products and services to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent technologies.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and coordinate cloud architecture across diverse areas including big data, application development, identity and access management, network and data management, and security.
- Use standardized processes for mapping client and/or business needs to available cloud technology options, including assessment of risks, mitigations, considerations for operations and support including automation and monitoring.
- Create, review and collaborate on architecture scope, roadmaps, conceptual, logical, and physical architecture diagrams for business, application, data, and technology domains that involve varied technologies hosted internally and externally.
- Participate in and/or lead multiple aspects of the architecture effort: planning, interdependencies, schedule, budget, tools, and required personnel.
- Provide technical leadership on projects, serving as a resource to project teams by evaluating and proposing technical alternatives for resolving business and technology issues. Guide and mentor engineering resources as required.
- Contribute to the development process ( hands on ) by creating POCs, reviewing code, testing and advising on production support as needed.
- Build relationships with business stakeholders, clients and partners to understand technology needs and serve as a trusted advisor.
- BS in Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or related Engineering field.
- 10-15 years of relevant industry experience including 5 years as a Solutions Architect. 10+ years of consistent record of contribution, leadership, and impact to the technology including enterprise architecture and full-stack solutions.
- 3+ years of experience with AWS.
- Experience delivering complex software systems through all phases of a software delivery lifecycle and working with multiple high-visibility projects running concurrently.
- Ability to provide direction, strategy, and value by analyzing current and future states of technology/architecture and conception of projects or features to close the gap between current-state and future goals.
- Excellent communication skills with significant experience in developing executive-level customer relationships, including solid negotiation, influencing, presentation, and communication skills at C and executive levels.
- Data Lake Experience, including Delta Lakes and Lakehouses (i.e., Snowflake/Databricks)
- Experience with event-driven architecture design patterns and practices
- Modern big data and cloud implementations, related systems and data formats, including Apache Spark, Parquet, AWS S3, AWS Glue, AWS EMR
- Cloud development experience with AWS or Google Cloud
- Data Warehousing, ETL and BI architectures, concepts, and frameworks.
- Advanced skills in troubleshooting and tuning AWS Lambda functions developed with Java and/or Python.
- Enterprise integration patterns, event-driven architecture, APIs, web services, SOA and micro services.
- MongoDB or similar NoSQL DB and Relational Databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.).
- Good understanding of distributed systems including performance tuning, logging and management.
- Message brokers like Kafka and Kinesis
- CI/CD and DevOps including experience with Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker.
- Experience with any of the Configuration Management (Cloud shell, Jenkins, Ansible)
- Experience with Cloud Formation Templates, Terraform, etc.
- Agile Based Product Development (Scrum, SAFE)
- AWS / Google Cloud Platform / Azure Certification.
- API Gateway (Zuul/Spring Gateway/Apigee/Azure API Management)
- Cloud development experience with AWS or Google Cloud
- Web development and UI including Django, React, Angular and Vue.js.
- Java services including Spring Framework - Spring Batch; Spring IOC; Spring AOP; Spring Actuator
- Release management using a common source code repository (Gits)
- JUnit/unit Testing Frameworks
- Gradle and/or Maven.
- Analyzing and modeling business processes including organization architecture mapping and value stream analysis including the use of BPMS/BRE tools.
- Collaborating on large program level initiatives involving multiple projects, stakeholders and technologies crossing business and technical domains to identify blockers, communicate opportunities and drive consensus.
- Architecting solutions requiring high level of data privacy, anonymization in regulated environments (i.e. CCPA, GDPR) including working with PII data.
- Designing and building complex enterprise applications with high volumes; enhanced security, DR strategy, compliance, and integrations.
- Application development and architecture utilizing cloud native services in AWS, planning highly available systems as dictated by risk and data classification.
