Friends Central’s Basketball, Reading, and Math Clinic is a six week summer program designed to address the recreational, athletic and academic needs of students entering grades 2-8. Instruction is given in the areas of basketball, reading, and mathematics, and is geared towards the individual needs of each student. Classroom activities are interactive and are designed to be fun as well as educational.
Essential Functions
Basketball, Math, and Reading Clinic is seeking dynamic and passionate teachers to create a warm and welcoming summer camp experience for students from various educational backgrounds. The goal is for students to reinforce what they have already learned at their current grade level and look towards and begin to develop skills that will prepare them for the upcoming school year.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement a reading curriculum for three different grade level groups.
Utilize classroom routines and procedures with consistency.
Develop plans to keep track of the work each student is doing.
Work closely with the camp leaders to inform them on instruction each week.
Collaborate with other teachers and camp staff when needed.
Form and maintain relationships with students in the classroom environment.
Qualifications
Ability to adjust instructional strategies in order to reach students with varied academic levels.
Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve.
A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement.
A belief that all students should be held to high standards while having fun.
A positive attitude and a drive for personal excellence.
Outstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students while maintaining an orderly classroom.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Classroom teaching experience

Camp Hours: 9:00am-12:30 pm Monday-Friday

Staff Mandatory Orientation Dates: Staff Orientation Saturday June 13th, 2020 & Parent Orientation Saturday June 27th, 2020
