Position Description: The Sr. Data Architect - Oncology Data Solutions (ODSA) is a technical position responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, and support of the Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center's (ACC) Oncology Research and Quality Improvement Datamart (ORQID) and related data solutions. This individual is a member of the Data Analytics Center in the Information Services department and reports to the Associate Director of Data Analytics. They will maintain a direct functional reporting line to the Chief Oncology Informatics Officer and will be dedicated to supporting the needs of the clinical informatics program within the ACC.

• The ODSA must have an expert understanding of relational databases, data modeling, database design principles, and the Structured Query Language (SQL). • Knowledge of IT best practices is required. The ideal candidate is a "full stack" data professional who is comfortable acting in multiple roles as needed (including data architect, data engineer, data wrangler, query writer, and business intelligence developer) in order to deliver end-to-end solutions that meet the organization's needs.• Experience working with non-technical users is preferred.• Knowledge and experience with clinical informatics and oncology-specific data standards (such as ICD-10-CM, ICD-O-3, AJCC staging, NAACCR cancer registry standards, RxNorm, etc.) is a significant plus, as is experience with Epic and/or Aria clinical information systems.• Epic Clinical Data Model certification is strongly preferred.• Essential to this position is an analytical mind, a willingness and enthusiasm for learning. The ODSA will be expected to take a "deep dive" into the world of cancer research and clinical care, becoming a subject matter expert in oncology data analytics over time.

ORQID is a novel clinical data repository that aggregates together structured data from multiple sources including the Epic electronic health record system, Aria radiation oncology information system, and the Penn cancer registry. It supports a broad array of clinical and translational research activities and clinical quality improvement initiatives across the ACC and the Penn Medicine Cancer Service Line.

Minimum Requirements: Required Education and Experience:• Bachelor of Science degree • Minimum of 10 years of working experience with data.

Required Skills and Abilities:• Extensive experience with SQL query writing required • Extensive experience with data modeling and data architecture required• Hands-on experience with creating and maintaining a centralized data repository

Preferred Skills: • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills • Excellent verbal and written skills• Experience with relational reporting and OLAP tools preferred• Must be able to function as part of a team providing a high level of quality service to clients• Clinical applications experience is a plus but not a requirement

Additional Information: As part of our COVID-19 response, this position may currently be offering partial or full remote work. However, in the near future this position will require full or partial on-site work.
