Position Description: The Senior Telecommunications Engineer leads the design, build-out, implementation and support of Enterprise Wide telephony solutions for UPHS. Act as the Senior Technical Engineer providing Management over-site and expertise on projects. This Includes convergence of Voice and Data technologies and integration with Legacy Systems. Familiar with Session Manager, Session Border Controllers, SIP Trunking and LAN/WAN architectures as it pertains to internal network and enterprise locations. Coordination support with Advanced Telephony Applications including, VoIP, Call Center Routing, CTI, Telephony Systems Reporting, Recording, Unified Communications and Mobile Telephony. Evaluate migration, redundancy, disaster recovery, business continuity and long term growth options for Converged Solutions.

The Telecommunications Engineer assists with the Design, build-out, implementation and support of Enterprise Wide telephony solutions for UPHS. Acts as the technical engineer on telephony projects. This Includes convergence of Voice and Data technologies and integration with Legacy Systems. Familiar with Session Manager, Session Border Controllers, SIP Trunking and LAN/WAN architectures as it pertains to internal network and enterprise locations. Coordination support with Advanced Telephony Applications including, VoIP, Call Center Routing, CTI, Telephony Systems Reporting, Recording, Unified Communications and Mobile Telephony. Assist with maintaining critical corporate initiatives and business continuity strategies.

Minimum Requirements: Senior Telecommunications Engineer

Required Education and Experience • Bachelor's degree required. In engineering, computer science, management information systems or a related field preferred.• Current Internal Penn Medicine Information Services division employees may be considered with proof of active and continued enrollment in an approved bachelor degree program• Minimum of 6 years' experience in Voice and Data Networking technologies required.• Minimum of 5 years' experience in VoIP network performance, scalability, security, reliability and fault tolerance preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities• Experience working with multiple Voice platforms (e.g., Avaya, Nortel, Carrier Services, Wireless Carriers) preferred. • Experience working with Voice Applications and systems, including Video, Multi-Media Contact Center, IVR, Call Recording required. • Proven Hands-on experience with Avaya Communication Manager, Voicemail and Call Center product lines preferred • Knowledge and Experience with Industry Standards and practices related to Telephony solutions in general and to VoIP technology in particular. Including QoS, Q-sig, SIP, H323, MPLS• Understanding of PSTN, LAN/WAN networks, Switches, Routers, Servers, WiFi • Experience working with proprietary software and hardware• Expert Trouble Shooting Skills and excellent oral and written communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.• Skilled in time, priority and task management• Handle complex multiple tasks and oversee implementation and deployment solutions.• Healthcare environment experience is preferred.

Telecommunications Engineer

Including QoS, Q-sig, SIP, H323, MPLS• Understanding of PSTN, LAN/WAN networks, Switches, Routers, Servers, WiFi • Experience working with proprietary software and hardware• Healthcare environment experience is preferred.

Minimum Certifications, Registry and/or Licenses Required: • Avaya Advanced Communication Manager Administration preferred• VoIP Foundations and CTP+ preferred

Required Skills and Abilities• Solid Trouble Shooting Skills and excellent oral and written communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.• Skilled in time, priority and task management• Ability to anticipate problems, resolve ambiguity and take decisive action• Ability to work independently and as part of a team• Excellent analytical and documentation skills required for design and support of converged solutions.• Ability to convey a strong presence, professional image, and deal confidently with complex technical problems• Willingness to travel
