Position Description: Director Research Data Analytics

Responsible for leading the effort to define and develop Penn Medicine's Data Analytics platforms and capabilities that support the research community requirements. The Director Research Data Analytics is a critical partner with Penn Medicine's clinical, business, and technical leadership in defining enterprise-level solutions that meet research and clinical needs.

Accountabilities: • Sets direction for the evolution of enterprise Data Analytics platforms and tools that serve the research community - where we are today (current state), and where we need to go for scalability, governance, and best of class IT services offerings (future state). • Provides Data Analytics technical architectural leadership in collaboration with clinical, operational, research, and technical leadership.• Supports the Penn Medicine IS framework, aligning solutions with the needs of Penn Medicine.• Develops technical architecture solutions that meet business and technical needs, providing the most efficient and secure IT environment possible.• Creates, leads, and facilitates system-wide technical standards for Data Analytics research solutions.• Manages research-focused Data Analytics development from initiation through delivery, including planning, budgeting, project control, status reporting, team management, and bringing the projects on time and on budget. • Support deployment of analytic research and development projects and experiments within the health system. • Support researchers in the design and execution of projects utilizing advanced computational techniques to generate novel medical insights and to build clinical decision support systems. • Assists with governance activities as appropriate. • Provides mentorship and technical leadership across Penn Medicine, to help technical staff professionally grow and take on new technical competencies. • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Associate Director Research Data Analytics

The Associate Director is a critical partner with Penn Medicine's clinical, business, and technical leadership in defining enterprise-level solutions that meet research and clinical needs.

Minimum Requirements: Director Research Data Analytics

Education and Experience: • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred. • Current Internal Penn Medicine Information Services division employees may be considered with proof of active and continued enrollment in an approved bachelor degree program.• At least 10 years of experience in designing, developing and supporting data analytics solutions in clinical, financial and/or administrative environments required. • At least 5 years of experiencing managing/leading teams required. • Experience working in or directly supporting clinical, advanced computational or basic science research environments preferred. Skills and Abilities: • Demonstrated project management skills required. • Demonstrated customer service skills required.• Deep understanding of current and emerging data analytics technologies, design and principles required.• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to constructively resolve issues and conflicts as they arise. Strong listening skills.• Ability to think on your feet and provide innovative solutions required.• Demonstrated problem solving skills required.• Good communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships required.• Demonstrated negotiation skills required.• Ability to use Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) preferred.

Associate Director Research Data Analytics

Education and Experience: • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.• At least 7 years of experience in designing, developing and supporting data analytics solutions in clinical, financial and/or administrative environments required. • 3 years of experience managing/leading teams required. • 5 years of experience working in or directly supporting clinical or basic science research environments preferred.

Skills and Abilities: • Deep understanding of current and emerging data analytics technologies, design and principles required.• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to constructively resolve issues and conflicts as they arise. Additional Information: As part of our COVID-19 response, this position may currently be offering partial or full remote work. However, in the near future this position will require full or partial on-site work.
