During the time until our new office is available in 2022, we offer the ability to work from our Clean Earth division office in King of Prussia, periodic time at our current Camp Hill office, and some remote workingJob Summary: Reporting to the Director of Indirect Tax, the successful applicant will be responsible for: reviewing the Indirect Tax compliance process for the U.S. and Canada (opportunity to expand globally at a later time) including sales and use tax, property tax, and unclaimed property; managing indirect tax audits; assisting the business in transactional indirect tax due diligence and process improvements; researching indirect tax issues. This position will have one direct report. Primary ResponsibilitiesManage US Indirect Tax (Sales Tax & GST, Property Tax, Unclaimed Property)Audit / Refunds Management (Sales & GST, Property Tax, Unclaimed Property) Work with the auditors via email correspondence and act as a liaison between the auditor and Harsco

Gather, prepare information from divisions and assemble the information

prepare and construct response to auditor's questions and inquires

Auditor facing auditor management, managing meetings, managing on-site visits

Formulating Audit Management strategy

Executing Audit Management steps

Tax AppealDraft and file tax appeal

Work with appeal officer

Appeal strategy

Tax Technical AdvisoryPerform tax research for indirect tax

Provide technical tax guidance to divisions

Work with customer representatives on customer exemption status/certificates and tax treatments

Tax ComplianceReturn preparation and review

Tax System MaintenanceWork with divisions to maintain up-to-date exemption /resales certificates in the tax system

Work with the division to ensure the tax system is set up properly from point of taxation to remittance of tax

Process ImprovementPerform interviews to gain an understanding of people, processes, and procedures

Document interview into interview notes and presentation

Perform presentation & training to effect process improvement

Annual internal process documentation and proposal for change

EducationBachelor's degree, with an emphasis in accounting or finance

ExperienceA minimum of 5 years of multi-state sales and use tax experience, including compliance, research, and audits.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite, with an exceptional knowledge of Excel and Power BI

Experience in working in large data set to perform data analytics

Preferred Qualifications:Master's Degree or LLM in Taxation

IPT – Sales Tax School I & Sales Tax School II

CPA or JD

Broad exposure to state or federal income taxation

Experience with procure-to-pay, order-to-cash and shared services process and functions

ERP experience (Oracle) and other tax systems (Avalara, Vertex or Onesource)

Knowledge of tax software systems for indirect taxes.

Detailed knowledge of multi-state tax requirements for indirect taxes.

Tax research skills (CCH, RIA, BNA, Lexis, Other)

Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Microsoft Access

Previous Lean or Six Sigma experience
