SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Lead Business Analyst is responsible for preparing and analyzing PTC-related reports published internally and externally. The successful candidate is expected to complete detailed analyses that are often required ad hoc to support senior SD&O staff, other Amtrak departments, external stakeholders, and/or in response to PTC-related operational issues. This position reports to the PTC Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares, analyzes, and distributes weekly, monthly, and quarterly PTC performance reports for the Amtrak network and monitors performance against strategic targets.
  • Provide input to project teams developing PTC reporting enhancements.
  • Provide PTC performance & foreign railroad data for the monthly SD&O performance meeting.
  • Identifies and interprets needs of internal and external stakeholders and foreign railroad data to provide complete, concise reports/analyses.
  • Develops business case presentations for senior SD&O staff to use in strategic enterprise decisions
  • Assist the Director in developing new PTC performance reporting tools and measures
  • Serve as a vital interface between Amtrak, host and foreign railroads.
  • Prepares and analyzes SAP and Ariba Reports as requested for the Director PTC.
  • Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts involved in PTC project objectives and deliverables.
  • Serve as subject matter expert working with internal and external stakeholders to provide expertise in developing the requirements, reporting, visualizations, etc.
  • Prepares complete detailed analysis of PTC performance and cutout ratio in mileage and prepares reports using data from all Amtrak system's nationwide including areas where Amtrak is the tenant on foreign railroads.
  • Partner with host railroads to compile monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual on FRA reporting requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • 6 years of relevant operations, transportation, or data analytics experience
  • Excellent analytical skills, including use of statistical analysis techniques
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize projects and deliverables and interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to analyze strategic options and their direct potentials and indirect impact on the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate at various levels in the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SAP, ARROW, and Ariba/ACE procurement system.
  • Knowledgeable of railroad operations.
  • Highly responsive to requests of others inside and outside of Amtrak
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
