Position Description: Lead Clinical Analyst

Responsible for enhancing, supporting, and maintaining Clinical Applications within the UPHS health system with an emphasis on patient care impact, clinical outcomes and quality improvement. Responsibilities include leading a team of individuals through an application project; providing instruction on various technical topics to other team members, educating/training new hires, managing an application project through the entire project life cycle while meeting project deadlines and initiatives, and monitoring a project plan while reporting project changes and status to administration. Lead team members on optimization of the EMR through development of new clinical functionality, testing and implementing scheduled vendor releases and system upgrades, and fixing system defects. Serve as the resource for other application team members on technical and functional application analysis, defining system requirements, and developing models using best practices for build and configuration, maintenance and data integrity. Work with cross functional teams and UPHS clients by providing education on system functionality, and configuration of new tools to increase end user productivity within the application. Ensure system changes follow clinical workflow, change management procedures and protocols, create and maintain all documentation for all assigned applications, and develop, plan and execute testing for supported applications. Communicates all necessary application changes, enhancements, and procedures to all necessary internal and external department teams.

Ensure system changes follow change management procedures and protocols, create and maintain all documentation for all assigned applications, and develop, plan and execute testing for supported applications. Communicates all necessary application changes, enhancements, and procedures to all necessary internal department teams.

Minimum Requirements: Lead Clinical Analyst

Minimum Certifications, Registry and/or Licenses Required: • Health Care Professional Certificate and / or License as such as MT, RN, PA, or DPM required • Vendor certification preferred

Degree Requirements and Minimum Experience Required: • Bachelors Degree required • Current Internal Penn Medicine Information Services division employees may be considered with proof of active and continued enrollment in an approved bachelor degree program• At least of 3 years of related experience required• Experience in Healthcare IT preferred • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement and manage projects and personnel required.

Skill Requirements: • Knowledge and domain experience in direct patient care processes and workflow • Broad understanding of various clinical services and information / work flow associated with each • Experience in the processes surrounding Patient Care Outcomes and Quality Improvement • Ability to understand and describe clinical processes and needs and transform them into scope and / or requirements during the development of functionality and application processes • Detail oriented, strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills required.• Clinical applications experience in either an application support or implementation role preferred• Strong process improvement and project management skills• Strong documentation skills, including development and maintenance of policies and procedures • Ability to work independently and utilize good judgment and timing in deciding which situations require Manager involvement. • Ability to effectively implement and manage projects and personnel • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills • Ability to analyze, diagnose, suggest and implement process changes• Ability to negotiate effectively and to build consensus among diverse groups of people. • Ability to troubleshoot, research and solve technically challenging problems involving integrated systems• Strong customer service orientation and ability to follow through issues to resolution.• Ability to interact with all levels of healthcare personnel to include: IT management staff, consulting staff, clinicians, clinical administrators, etc.• Must be able to function as part of a team providing a high level of quality service to clients.• Serves as a mentor and role model to other staff members and leads by example. • Must demonstrate leadership, team building and exceptional communication skills.

Lead Application Analyst

Skill Requirements: • Strong customer service orientation and ability to follow through issues to resolution.• Ability to effectively implement and manage projects and personnel• Knowledge of basic hardware configurations, database management tools and query language• Ability to troubleshoot, research and solve technically challenging problems involving integrated systems• Detail oriented, strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills required.• Ability to analyze, diagnose, suggest and implement process changes• Ability to interact with all levels of healthcare personnel to include: IT management staff, consulting staff, clinicians, clinical administrators, etc.• Clinical applications experience in either an application support or implementation role preferred.• Strong with process improvement and project management skills• Knowledge of healthcare operations and data structures and the use of information system applications in the practicing healthcare environment preferred• Must be able to function as part of a team providing a high level of quality service to clients.

Additional Information: As part of our COVID-19 response, this position may currently be offering partial or full remote work. However, in the near future this position will require full or partial on-site work.
