DescriptionIf you're looking to build your career in accounting, there's currently a long-term temporary-to-full-time Staff Accountant position with Accountemps that you may want to check out. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will hold responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Requirements
Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Solid understanding of Sage 50
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Proficient in ERP systems
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Recent and relevant accounting experience
