Local North Philadelphia nonprofit providing social services to women and girls is seeking to hire a part-time Youth Services Advisor (YSA) for its youth residential program. This part-time position will serve as a member of a team of YSAs providing intake for youth, assisting youth in following their case plan, as well as, participating in the day-to-day activities of youth from sunrise to sunset, including: educational, recreational, personal care, mealtime, transportation and youth development programs. YSAs serve as direct care service providers for all youth from intake to program exit and tend to the individual needs of youth, including replenishing resources and providing ongoing counselling and engagement, as well as, assisting youth with transportation to court appearances, field trips and other appointments. YSAs provide evidence-based and trauma-informed programming to meet the needs of youth with complex behaviors. They also cultivate positive relationships by establishing rapport and trust with youth and engage them in activities that build self-confidence and improve relationships and connections within the program, as well as with their families and communities of origin. The work schedule for this position is two weekends per month, including Saturday and Sunday, from 6:00am - 6:00pm. Additional hours may also be available via on-call opportunities.

Qualifications:

-Minimum of a high school diploma/GED required. (Associates Degree in psychology, education, social work or other human service discipline preferred; (B.A. ideal)

-1+ year experience working with youth/adolescents, including activity planning and intake/registration activities (experience in residential setting ideal)

-Understanding of youth development and experience working with youth with complex behaviors

-Drivers license with good driving record

-Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed practice, especially the Sanctuary Model,as well as understanding of runaway etiology and symptomology.

-Excellent computer, organizational, record-keeping and communication skills

Mandatory background clearances are required for employment as per our contract with local and state government in providing residential care for female youth ages 13-20. They include: Child Abuse Clearance, State Police Background Check and FBI Finger-printing. Preference is given to candidates who already possess clearances filed within the last two years.
