Position Description: Under close supervision, the Associate Security Engineer administers various aspects of the advanced computer system(s) and applications that are the responsibility of the Information Services Security Group. Assists with planning and coordination of unstructured activities around system use. Performs guided system installations and maintenance, produces training and education materials and provides user support within a multiple application environment. Assists the Information Systems Security leadership team and peers in designing and implementing Penn Medicine's Information Technology security rules, processes, and procedures

Accountabilities• Assists in the identification of security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications and new technology initiatives. • Assists in the collection of and analyzing of security information for appropriate utilization, performance and potential security issues.• Assists in the problem root causes determination to eliminate future instances and develop new standards to improve operations.• Works with system engineers to plan, coordinate and test installations, upgrades and changes to Security hardware/software network.• Under supervision, installs and upgrades organization's business applications and systems.• Identifies and isolates system problems, working with vendors and/or users to correct errors and determine root cause to prevent future instances. • Assists in the development of standards for security, including customer support and operational readiness.• Tests security architecture and design solutions to produce detailed engineering specifications with recommended vendor technologies. • Researches and recommends new technology to meet future organization requirements.• Works with end-users, technical staff and vendors to troubleshoot and implement solutions to unique problems or needs.• Participates in the planning of projects centered on information security requirements.• Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Minimum Requirements: Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline• 2+ years of Professional Information Technology experience required

Required Skills and Abilities:• Ability to communicate technical information and ideas• Ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical persons• Demonstrated customer service skills• Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills• Strong understanding of the foundations of computer science• Ability to learn new technical skills, applications, and processes• Knowledge of Mac OS or Windows operating systems• Solid understanding of information systems infrastructure and application capabilities• Ability to troubleshoot, research and solve technically challenging problems
