WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an Android Developer, you will develop Android mobile technology solutions in support of major initiatives, such as: Online Ordering Curbside Pickup Pump Activation SheetzGo! Delivery Integrations

Essential Functions:
  • Mobile Development of our Android App using exciting technologies such as:
    • Java
    • Android SDK
    • Android Studio
    • Firebase
    • Microservices Architecture
    • XML
    • RESTful APIs
    • Apache Maven / Gradle
    • Git / GitLab

  • Be a subject matter expert for Android mobile application development.
  • Develop new applications using pre-approved programming languages that meet or exceed the needs of the company
  • Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and customer requirements for software
  • Define, create and maintain applications/systems documentation including Technical/User Documentation, Test Cases, Release notes, etc.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of one or more applications/systems, whether internally developed or purchased.
  • Professionally maintain all software, and create/implement updates regularly to address customer and company requirements.
  • Analyze applications/systems to identify, research, and document weaknesses and errors.
  • Ensure software security by adhering to Sheetz established Secure Software Development Guidelines.
  • Aid and support the coaching and training of other team members.
  • Troubleshoot in collaboration with all areas of IT and Sheetz Vendors to minimize business impact on and off normal business hours.
  • Provide evening and weekend on call/issue support as needed. Sheetz is open 24/7/365 and as such, our internal and external customers may require support at any time.
  • Stay up to date on the latest development tools and industry trends as they relate to Sheetz

EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required:
  • A four-year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering; or a four year degree in another field of study which includes courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering is preferred
  • 3+ years of programming experience in Java for Android
  • An understanding of the Agile Software Development methodology
  • Working knowledge and understanding of secure coding practices
  • An understanding of the different layers of application architecture (service, resource, logging, testing, etc.)
  • An understanding of RESTful APIs and ability to integrate them into an Android application

Preferred:

  • Agile Scrum Master certification,Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) and/orCertification in a specific Development methodology preferred
  • Experience with API-first methodologies like OpenAPI / Swagger for building REST API designs
  • Experience developing and usingmicro-services
  • Experience developing projects using Android Studio
  • Experience with Relational Databases like MS SQL, H2, MySQL, and Oracle
