Summary:CEI’s healthcare client is adding an Azure Data Engineer to their team.This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position.Remote with some travel to Pittsburgh or Houston.Candidates local to Pittsburgh, PA, or Houston, TX will be given preference.Our client is leading a healthcare transformation through our partnerships with physicians and healthcare insurers. Through their unique models, they empower physicians to truly manage a patient’s health, delivering high-quality, affordable care in a modern, patient-focused approach.The Data Engineer will be responsible for empowering their technology platform. In this role, the Data Engineer will play a critical role in connecting our partners and enabling our critical solutions through their use of actionable data and empowering processes through harmonized data across the entire spectrum from care provision, claim payment, and process visibility. Essential Functions:
  • Design and build data-centric pipelines to establish connectivity across the Apex network of payers and providers within our Azure cloud-based environment.
  • Work with our partners to understand data exchange capabilities, recommend best practices and implement integrations.
  • Understanding of key data feeds and fields, mapping to and expanding our global data models, and working to create the integrations into and out of our environment(s)
  • Ongoing management of data processing jobs and routines within an Azure / SQL Server environment.
  • Creation of procedures and code to facilitate the movement of data to and from files and formats using ETL / ELT processes.
  • Development of data visualization and reporting assets and artifacts

Skills:
  • 3+ years of data engineering & analysis within an MS SQL Server and Azure environment
  • Experience operating in an Azure cloud-based platform
  • Azure Data Factory experience
  • Understanding and competency in the MS SQL Server technologies including SSMS, SSIS, T-SQL.
  • Competency with data querying languages and or scripting languages (T-SQL / Python)
  • Experience developing user-facing data visualizations and report generators (PowerBI / Tableau / Web-Based Apps)
  • Knowledge of emerging data healthcare data and security standards such as FHIR, and HIPAA is nice to have
  • Familiarity with HL7 or other healthcare-related EDI protocols and both clinical and administrative healthcare data sources is nice to have
  • Familiarity with working in a regulated industry
  • Usage of report authoring tools
  • Able to communicate and present complex issues with customers, partners, and senior leaders
  • Start-up exp is a big plus
  • Must be willing to wear multiple hats like in most start-ups
  • Must be willing to put in OT when needed

Education
  • Bachelor of Computer Science, MIS or equivalent degree
