PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Transports, sets-up and breaks-down equipment and supplies for mobile operations. Delivers blood and blood products and pick-up samples for laboratory testing from hospital clients and for Centralized Transfusion Services. Transports mail, supplies and equipment among the subsidiaries.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
  • Assures quality customer service to all customers.
  • Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.
  • Delivers blood, blood products or correspondence to client hospitals serviced by Central Blood Bank. Picks-up samples from client hospitals serviced by ITxM. Transports products and samples with the Centralized Transfusion Services System. Returns product shipment containers from client hospitals in a timely manner. Transports all products and samples in accordance with FDA or other regulations.
  • Transports, sets-up and breaks-down equipment and supplies at client account's facility. Follows directions to destination, adheres to client account's rules and requirements, if applicable; and, reports service failures to the Transportation Services Coordinator. Transfers whole blood products to the laboratory in accordance with the transfer run schedule. Shuttles donors to and from collection site if required.
  • Represents ITxM to all external customers in a professional and courteous manner. Interacts with all external customers on an ongoing basis to promote customers satisfaction through a positive attitude and interest in assisting in problem resolution. Immediately reports customer dissatisfaction to the Transportation Services Coordinator.
  • Picks-up US mail, inter-company mail, supplies and equipment and delivers or transfers within the ITxM facilities. Transports apheresis equipment to and from client hospitals.
  • Loads and unloads supplies, equipment, products, samples from vehicles.
  • Unpacks and segregates products upon arrival in the laboratory.
  • Shuttles vehicles for the purpose of maintenance and repair. Washes, cleans, and maintains vehicular fleet Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of garages.
  • Completes documentation as required and specified within the scope of position responsibilities.
  • Drivers may be asked to strip and seal on mobile blood drives as a support function to the donor services staff.
  • Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Education

None.

Licenses/ Certifications

Possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license required.

Experience
  • Professional driving experience (box and full size van) with a manual transmission is preferred.
  • Geographic knowledge of western Pa and tri-state area is preferred.
Skills/Abilities
  • Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Well-groomed and neat appearance for appropriate representation to external customers.
  • Spoken communication skills, interactive customer service skills, alertness and concentration skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions (written and verbal).
