DescriptionPurpose:The Manager of Construction Supplier Diversity& Inclusion reports to the Vice President, Construction and Project Development, and is responsible for managing the Diversity & Inclusion program for the new UPMC Presbyterian Bed Tower, including its strategies and initiatives and working in conjunction with UPMC Supplier Diversity, UPMC Construction Management, and the overall project team including construction manager, design consultants, and both internal and external community partners to implement elements of the program. This individual will embrace the values of diversity and inclusion, committing to the recruitment and advancement of staff that reflect various ethnicities, races, genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, religions, and disabilities; recognizing that diversity is a strength that increases teamwork and innovation and improves our ability to support our clients.The Manager, Construction Supplier Diversity & Inclusion will be responsible for the roll-out of the documented Diversity Inclusion plan and the elements of the plan including introducing new vendors and businesses to our Supplier Diversity team, working with our construction manager, trade partners, human resources, and community partners to break down barriers to apprentice training and employment opportunities, and ensuring the community has visibility to services available via UPMC and many of our regional partners. This effort will include the coordination of project related community engagement, operating the project office where these opportunities will be showcased, participating in strategic committees related to diversity, attendance at community meetings, and developing dashboards to measure the success of program through the life of the project. Social media type experience will be essential in creating the messaging coming from this office. The Manager, Construction Supplier Diversity & Inclusion Manager will work independently to execute the project plan.Responsibilities:Participate in design, development, and implementation of Diversity& Inclusion (DEI) Program processes, strategies, and initiatives. Analyze, benchmark, and prepare reports documenting program impact. Solicit and direct diverse businesses and vendors to UPMC Supplier Diversity Web Portal. Serve as a liaison to new MWDBE businesses and vendors being introduced to portal via Presby Diversity &Inclusion efforts.

Introduce community to employment and social services available via UPMC and regional partners. Engage local high school trade program leaders and support their initiatives. Facilitate discussions with government leaders regarding these same programs. Manage project storefront location that will be periodically staffed by representatives of CM team, UPMC Health Plan, and UPMC Human Resources.

In conjunction with project construction manager, UPMC SCM, and other UPMC Construction staff, create project dashboards detailing both vendor and workforce diverse participation on project and community connections made to UPMC services and other community partners. Provide routine summaries to Executive Leadership regarding same.

Represent UPMC through coordination and participation in internal /external meetings, seminars, committees, trade shows, and exhibits. Oversee diverse vendor and workforce activities relative to UPMC Presbyterian Bed Tower Project. Develop and implement promotion strategies for UPMC Presby Tower's diversity, and inclusion program. Work with the social media team to create and publish relevant information regarding the project and diversity and inclusion metrics.

Organize community outreach programs and coordinate special events promoting Construction Diversity and Inclusion program and access to UPMC community partners. Represent UPMC at community events and build strong relationships with key community members. Respond to inquiries from community members and other interested parties regarding program and project. Manage social media content plans and virtual groups to enhance the online profile of the UPMC Bed Tower.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Supplier Diversity, or related field required. MBA preferred.

Eight+ years of experience in Supplier Diversity, Community Engagement, or related area.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent client service skills and proven ability to deal effectively with vendors, contractors, and community partners.

Ability to effectively manage tasks, establish priorities, make decisions, and follow issues through to resolution as directed.

Highly motivated, detailed and results oriented.

Ability to function in a high-pressure environment with minimal supervision; with dependability and professionalism.
