PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for performing routine testing of biological specimens. Works with other team members to ensure timely, quality, test results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.

Provide value for the customer by supporting departmental and individual goal achievement, effective communications, process improvement and compliance.

Demonstrate respect for all team members by seeking input on processes and problem solving, communicating key information, collaborative teamwork and supporting a culture of diversity.

Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.

Maintains accurate records and documentation. Ensures maintenance of donor, patient and employee confidentiality.

Performs preparation and prequalification of reagents and routine testing of biological samples.

Performs routine maintenance on equipment and identifies equipment malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel.

Performs equipment calibration.

Assists with monitoring supply and reagent levels and notifies appropriate personnel when new supplies are needed.

Maintains the cleanliness of equipment and work areas. Adheres to safety guidelines.

Assists process improvement teams, as required.

Performs donor product testing.

Preparation of blood products/components including irradiation, pooling.

Performs patient testing.

Participates in inventory management including blood product issuing.

Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/EducationBachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, medical technology or clinical laboratory science required.CLIA requirements for high complexity testing required.

Licenses/CertificationsState license, as required by regulations.

ExperienceNone

Skills/AbilitiesMust possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.Must be highly organized and detail oriented; accurate and timely.Ability to work in a team environment. Must possess good decision-making skills. Must comprehend and apply clinical laboratory procedures and theory. Must maintain confidentiality.Proficient computer skills to include input and retrieval of data.Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift and bend.
