Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC is hiring a full-time Supervisor to join our team in Sterile Processing! The individual selected for this role will act in the absence of the manager and will be the liaison between the OR and various areas Central Sterile services throughout the hospital.This role offers a Sign-On Bonus in the amount of $5,000 to external hires!Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 6-6 and one day during the week that will rotate based off the needs of the department.Purpose:Assists the Manager in the planning, organizing, directing and controlling the activities of the Central Processing Department that are designed to provide clean and sterile supplies, equipment and instruments necessary for patient care. Responsible for a quality control program to ensure this process.Responsibilities:

Make recommendations for employee performance evaluations, provide feedback about staffing concerns and take corrective actions with staff as needed.

Assist in the developing of the annual department operating and capital budgets.

Establish and implement policies and procedures for the Central Processing Department in compliance with regulatory agencies.

Assist in conducting staff meetings to disseminate information and monitor employees concerns, needs and suggestions.

Responsible for the operational safety and effectiveness of all departmental machinery.

Follow the mandatory reporting for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.

Direct the assembly and transport of case carts to supply Surgical Services.

Assist in developing short and long-term goals to meet the objectives of the department, hospital and the Healthcare System.

Direct the monitoring of sterilization equipment in accordance with regulatory agency guidelines including daily biological monitoring.

Work closely with Clinical Engineering to perform preventive maintenance and resolve any equipment performance problems.

Assist in ensuring compliance with monthly budgets and providing justification of variances.

Assist in interviewing and make recommendations for hiring new employees for the Central Processing Department.

Oversee the collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instrumentation.

Assist in providing vision and direction for the Central Processing Department in conjunction with Magee-Womens Hospital mission and vision statements.

Provide assistance in completing quality assurance monitoring and prepare needed reports as appropriate.

Supervise all aspects of the sterilization process to provide sterile instrumentation for surgical procedures.

Supervise the collection, cleaning and distribution of patient care equipment, laboratory glassware and supplies.

In conjunction with the manager, provide adequate department coverage at all times through employee scheduling and daily job assignments.

Maintain department staffing and supply cost information in conjunction with fiscal budget reporting.

Assist in maintaining compliance of policies and procedures for all employees and ensure staff adhere to all safety, quality and infection control standards.

Develop employee skills through orientation, direct supervision, mentoring, and department in-services.

Evaluate this information to determine compliance with governmental and regulatory agency guidelines.

Responsible for the daily production of sterile instrumentation and clean products for clinical areas.

Provide direction, motivation and guidance to all Central Processing staff through daily communication and interaction.

Assist in maintaining proper documentation on all sterilization loads including load records and sterilizer parameters printouts.

Enforce department standards, provide guidance and counseling of employees.

Responsible for ordering needed supplies and proper inventory management.

2 years of college courses related to surgical technology and/or Central Sterile Processing.

2 years' experience working in a Central Sterile Processing Department.

Analytical ability necessary to project equipment and supply usage patterns, develop policy and procedures, and develop departmental standards.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated supervisory ability necessary to plan, organize, direct and control the activities of staff personnel.

Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
