Job Description

A day in the life…

  • Perform analysis and communication for unique employee tax scenarios related to relocation, global mobility and work location specific taxation, among others.
  • Responsible for accurate set up and system maintenance of SUI rates, and verification of rates applied by state. Ability to interpret, communicate, and execute changes as needed.
  • Responsible for new registrations and power of attorneys for federal, state and local tax agencies.
  • Researches federal, state and local laws/regulations related to FLSA, payroll tax withholding, and benefits. Partners with Legal, Finance, and People & Culture in implementing and administering plans to ensure compliance.
  • Partner with 3rd party vendor on inquiries/notices from federal, state and local labor and tax agencies on payroll related issues.
  • Coordinate tax filing amendments with the 3rd party vendor as needed.
  • Responsible for 401k Administration, including biweekly reporting, compliance, match processing and vendor management.
  • Execute policies and procedures consistently and ensure compliance with key SOX controls. Continue to monitor and maintain for accuracy and relevance.
  • Coordinate with and assist auditors and 3rd party vendor on all internal and external audits (e.g. DOL, IRS, 401(k) annual audits, Worker's Compensation).
  • Assist with preparation and documentation of quarterly financial audits.
  • Reviews and balances monthly, quarterly and annual filings as prepared by the 3rd party vendor.
  • Responsible for accurate taxation on equity transactions.
  • Manage tax related matters associated with acquisitions.
  • Assist as backup for processing bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll, as well as ensuring regular compliance and accuracy.
  • Develop reports and perform data analysis as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships throughout the organization to increase understanding of the business and keep current with changes that may impact tax or require guidance.
  • Partner in transforming and streamlining processes to provide greater efficiencies.
  • Provide knowledge, development and mentorship to team members.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years payroll tax experience performing all functions of payroll and tax
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Human Resources, or Finance
  • Working knowledge of Workday payroll
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and SOX requirements
  • Working knowledge of multi-state taxation compliance
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to payroll, taxes and filings
  • Understand and apply complex tax laws and regulations with attention to details
  • International payroll experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion, professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment
  • Adapt quickly and efficiently to new situations, cope effectively with pressure and deadlines
  • Demonstrates and executes effective planning and project management
  • Ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues
  • Ability to accurately analyze complex and detailed data to achieve quality results
