Our team’s mission is to develop and evaluate assays and platforms to improve our understanding of disease biology and drug mechanism of actions (MoA) and to develop novel decision-making biomarkers for early phase clinical trials. This position is primarily laboratory-based and will be responsible for driving the development of novel methods and technologies to enable multi-omics analysis of clinical trial samples with a high degree of autonomy. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide NGS expertise to internal stakeholders in study design, execution, and troubleshooting, and partner with external service providers as needed to support high-quality data generation from clinical trial samples.The primary responsibilities of this position are:

Design/execute/troubleshoot experiments to support bulk RNA-seq and single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq/CITE-seq) for various clinical projects

Perform a wide range of cellular and molecular techniques including tissue dissociation, cell culture, flow sorting, NGS library generation and QC

Lead evaluation and implementation of advanced methods and technologies to enable multi-omics analysis of clinical trial samples and to provide guidance on sample collection and processing at clinical sites

Integrate automation (ie TECAN, Mantis, or Mosquito) to existing NGS pipelines to ensure data reproducibility and to improve throughput

Partner with external service providers on assays as necessary to meet project timeline and objectives

Perform high-level NGS data analysis and report data accurately in electronic lab notebook

Work closely with other lab-based personnel within Translational Science in Immunology to ensure optimal laboratory environment (collaboration, culture, safety, etc.)

QualificationsRequired:

Ph.D. in biology, biophysics, biochemistry, bioengineering or similar field with relevant experience or M.S. with a minimum of three (3) years of NGS experience is required.

Extensive experience in experimental RNA/DNA methods for bulk RNA-seq and single cell RNA-seq from blood or tissue samples is required.

Excellent programming skills in R, Python, or similar language in a Linux environment is required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to management are required.

Dry and wet lab experience are required.

Proven ability to work successfully in multidisciplinary teams are required.

Ability to independently manage ongoing projects effectively with record keeping skills and meticulous attention to detail are required.

Deeply committed to continuous learning and staying abreast of scientific advances are required.

Preferred:

Experience with illumina sequencers (i.e. NovaSeq) is preferred.

Experience with various scRNA-seq workflows is preferred.

Experience with tissue-based assays and flow cytometry is preferred.

Experience with tissue disassociation methods is preferred.

Experience with robotics/automation is preferred.

Prior experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
