THE POSITIONJoin the team at the Social Work Department! The Department of Human Services is seeking a Forensic Social Worker I for work within one of the two forensic units in the state. This individual should be highly energetic, care about those involved in the legal system, and enjoy working with those with serious and persistent mental illness. DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe Forensic Social Worker I will work with individuals involved in the legal system who need assessment and treatment, competency evaluations, aid in sentencing evaluations, group programming, and support with their legal system endeavors. Your role will include conducting groups, working with community providers, court systems, public defenders, judges, patient families, and support systems. This includes arranging virtual and in person visitation for patients, arranging discharges, and scheduling follow-up appointments in accordance with treatment team recommendations. You will have the opportunity to serve as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and will provide input into patient progress, needs, and the development of patient treatment goals. Work includes using crisis management to assist with patient escalation and to also provide support to other patients in the event of a crisis scenario. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, experience with a fast-paced environment, and the ability to arrange scheduling to accommodate quick changes. Being familiar with the NASW Code of Ethics and the treatment of individuals in an involuntary setting is essential. Interested in learning more? Full-time employment.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
A bachelor's or master’s degree in social work or social welfare.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credit.
