POSITION TITLE:
System Planning Modeling Co-Op DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The System Planning Modeling Department is responsible for modeling the transmission system. The department models existing and future generation and transmission upgrades within for power flow, short circuit, and dynamics cases. The modeling process is accomplished in accordance with the planning criteria of several organizations, including PJM, NERC, RFC (Reliability First Corporation), and SERC (SERC Reliability Corporation). The department incorporates improved and emerging technologies, such as renewables, storage, and hybrid technologies. Departmental employees have working knowledge of industry agreements, planning criteria, and operating instructions as they affect planning, operation, and modeling of the PJM system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In support of Vision and Mission, The System Planning Modeling Co-Op will be trained to perform the following:- Support the objectives of the System Planning Division s power system modeling and analysis activities.
- Ensure accuracy of power system models for short circuit, power flow, and dynamics cases
- Revise and update near term and long term models & input files as necessary
- Perform power system analyses such as power flow and short circuit studies and document analysis results.
