Job DescriptionThe Future Talent Program features Cooperative (Co-op) education that lasts up to 6 months and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Research & Development Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.General Overview:Applications are sought for a scientific co-op/intern opportunity in Vaccine Process Research and Development within our Research Laboratories. The candidate will work within the Vaccine Process Development Department’s Downstream team to develop a scale down model yield and impurities production for the development of vaccines. Effects on mRNA production and IVT efficiency at various scales will be evaluated using analytical tools such as HPLC, ELISA, and UV-visible spectroscopy to name a few.Specific Job Requirements:Candidate is expected to balance needs of multiple stakeholders for the monitoring of vaccine production. Under direct supervision of the project mentor, the individual will develop a scale down model evaluating various scale-up effects and performing in-process assays. Bioreactor and modeling experience preferred.The primary job responsibility will be to deliver on specific assigned objectives related to development of robust and scalable processes for the manufacture of clinical supplies and subsequent technical transfer of such processes to GMP operations or manufacturing division. Candidate will, under the close supervision of a more senior scientist, hold responsibility for a range of specific activities including, but not limited to: (1) evaluating upstream and downstream process unit operations, (2) analytical process monitoring, (3) high throughput microscale process development, (4) electronic notebook recording and maintenanceRequire Education and Experience:Candidates must be enrolled in a minimum of a BS/BA in: Chemical/Bio Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or relevant discipline.

Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to 6 months.

Candidates must be enrolled in a co-op program at their college / university.

Candidates should be highly motivated and driven. Willing to take initiative to learn new science and excited to implement new technologies.

Candidates should be a strong team player. Candidate should be able to balance the needs of multiple disciplines when implementing new technologies.

Candidates must be comfortable using a PC computer and proficient in Windows-based operating systems and basic applications, such as spreadsheets and databases, at a minimum.

Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Candidates must have good critical thinking skills.

Candidates must have basic laboratory skills such as pipetting.

Preferred Experience and Skills:Candidates should have experience with basic purification unit operations including chromatography, filtration, or basicmolecular biology techniques

Candidates should have experience with bioreactors

Candidates should have experience with analytical methods including SDS-PAGE, HPLC, agarose gel, fluorescence, and UV-Visible spectroscopy

Candidates should have current GPA of 3.0 or higher
