BAPS Auto Paints & Supply is an automotive paint and supplies distributor with eight retail locations throughout PA, MD, MA, and VA. BAPS is now a 3rd- generation family owned company that considers themselves a leader in the Automotive Refinish Industry.

Job Purpose and Summary:

The Customer Support Specialist is a role within our Store Support team. The Customer Support Specialist is responsible for inside store sales, taking customer orders, paint mixing and other general store operations support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists walk-in customer base with product and usage questions as well as sales needs

Answers incoming phone calls and takes phone orders from customers while recording information accurately and with a positive and courteous demeanor

Accurately processes work through the company computer system to include but not limited to: Purchase orders, work orders, customer invoices, etc.

Unloads merchandise from trucks and breaks down pallets/boxes

Gathers product to ship out to customers/vendors or transfer to other locations. Boxes up product and shrink wraps materials, ensures packaging meets shipping requirements

Responsible for performing inventory counts to include checking physical inventory compared to computer generated count sheets

Stores merchandise on product shelves, according to identifying information such as style, size, color or type of material

Performs deliveries to customer locations while operating a company vehicle safely and following all state laws

Performs paint mixing and color matching services

Pulls customer orders and processes special order items

Keeps counter area (station) safe, orderly and clean. Also participates in a cleaning routine for the store and warehouse

Maintains an accurate cash drawer to include accepting payment and making change

Assists store management team with end of day closing procedures

Other duties and special projects as assigned

Competency – Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of automotive and body paint as well as familiarity with paint industry products, techniques, and tools is beneficial

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Consistently displays outstanding customer service skills

Ability to positively interact with customers over the phone

Ability to work independently

Ability to driver and operate a company vehicle safely

Computer skills to include the ability to learn our main operating system: Comcepts

Displays a consistent positive attitude and is a strong team player who works well within a team setting

Must have the ability to operate office equipment (phone, fax machine, scanner, and copy machine)

Required Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required

Must be able to read and write English legibly

Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable MVR within the last 5 years

Must pass a criminal background check

Experience in the paint or automotive industry

Physical Requirements of the Job

Must have the ability to life safely, at one time, a box weighing up to 55 lbs. from one to five feet

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 25% - 50%

Must be able to push, pull, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb steps/ladders

Must be able to stand and walk on hard surfaces for up to 8 hours per day in customer locations and within our retail stores

Must have good hearing and speech to be able to communicate with customers/fellow employees over the telephone and in person

Must have good vision and the ability to see a full range of colors

Works in outdoor weather conditions

Mental Requirements of the Job

Must be able to accurately calculate numbers and record numbers/data without transposing information

Ability to remain calm and in control when dealing with all customers and difficult situations

The ability to concentrate for up to 8 hours per day

The person in this position frequently communicates with customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

Work Environment

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, a noisy environment, air conditioning and heat. From time to time, the employee may be exposed to the low level paint fumes associated with commercial high performance paint and coatings. Employees may request a respirator device and should contact their manager to be fit tested.
