Apex Systems is seeking a Field Technician/Data Center Technician for an immediate opening with our client based in York, PA. In this role you will be traveling to various sites to build/upgrade/break-fix or decommission Local Technology Centers. Local Technology Centers are site cabinets or closets with the necessary routers, switches etc. for running technology in a specific office location. For new buildings, candidates will need to have experience doing Visio (or AutoCAD) drawings or diagrams for the space. Essential Job Duties- Assists in detection, analysis, documentation and resolution of service availability problems related to data center power, fire suppression and environmental systems hardware. Uses resources such as technical documentation, system knowledge, troubleshooting skills and other support teams to gain further experience of IT Facilities hardware and procedures.
- Assists in review of equipment logs for errors and determination of corrective action. Uses a core set of technical skills to assist in sustainment of the daily operations of multiple data centers and critical infrastructure environments to support the patient care systems and their partners.
- Aids in monitoring of equipment status to ensure high quality and reliability, principally focused on power and cooling systems. Interfaces with systems by using commands, utilities, interface panels and documentation.
- Participates in IT Facilities preventive maintenance and other management control programs.
- Updates IT Facilities equipment outage and history logs, procedural documentation, building maps and drawings and equipment manual libraries and forwards to the IT Facilities Coordinator for processing and filing.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures and MOPs during scheduled and unscheduled service downtime events.
- Participates in data center and network closet related projects and technology initiatives.
- Participates in the receipt, processing and data entry of maintenance/repair requests (work orders) through the automated work order system.
- Understanding of electrical Amps and Voltage, how they work and how much you need to power a device.
- 1-2 years' experience using MS Visio or AutoCAD experience to diagram or draw out spaces.
- Ideal candidate would have 1-2 years of experience with routers, switches or a strong understanding of network hardware and how it works.
- Valid drivers' license with no prior suspensions (loss of license) in the past 10 years'.
