Description SAIC is seeking a Technical Intern I in an engineering discipline that is ready to have a real insight into the world of work, test your skills in real-life situations, explore your career options and gain an insight into an organization or career path. This is a remote/virtual position that can be based nationwide. Hybrid Remote. SAIC's Intern program offers developmental learning experiences designed to provide on-the-job learning skills, and always an overall feel for the environment they're interning in. Internships are beneficial because they help develop your professional aptitude, strengthen personal character, and provide a greater door to opportunity. Throughout an SAIC internship you will develop a variety of soft skills, including communication skills, personal effectiveness, presentation skills, creative problem solving and influencing skills. Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Will support other engineers to conduct modeling, analysis, and mechanical design.
  • Mechanical Engineering design, documentation, and analysis.
  • Provides technical support, either within the company or in support of customer contracts, on assignments using established procedures.
  • Candidates are primarily engaged in the technical or scientific disciplines through the course of college study. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee).
  • Little to no knowledge of the job.
  • Moderate understanding of general job aspects and some understanding of the detailed aspects of the job.
  • Applies job skills and company policies to complete a wide range of tasks.

Supervision Received: Close supervision involving detailed instructions and constant checking on work performance.

IMPACT: Errors can be easily and quickly detected within the immediate work unit and would only result in minor disruption or expense to correct.

LIAISON: Contacts are primarily within immediate work unit. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretation. Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School and one year or more of college coursework in a technical field.
  • Some college-level classes completed in an engineering discipline
  • Ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment
  • Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Candidates should have strong written and oral communications abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and common office software applications is required
