Description SAIC is seeking a Software Engineer to provide support as a member of an integrated project development team for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center,

Newport, RI. They will be working with the development team to support integration of customer developed software, implementation of automated build services to support the development process on a Linux system, and to monitor and report on the status of build and test services. They will be responsible for adherence to software development and configuration management processes and will be expected to provide technical input as to the implementation, adherence, and continuous improvement of the software engineering processes and procedures.

Job Duties:
  • Become familiar with basic project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Learn the configuration management strategies.
  • Learn to define and measure key performance metrics and monitor change and configuration management process progress.
  • Learn to apply a structured methodology and adhere to change management activities.
  • The candidate should have the ability to quickly learn new concepts, tools and methodologies to be able to execute tasks with minimal direction. Job responsibilities will include compilation of software and firmware components, generation of scripts to support compilation and generation of automated test routines for testing software/firmware components for functionality and providing feedback.
  • The successful candidate will report progress to the Lead Software Engineer, including issues and recommendations to achieve system integration, as well as verification and validation closeout on schedule.
Qualifications

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in software development, integration and analysis of military hardware and software systems/processes
  • Experience building and maintaining automated software development environments
  • Experience developing software for Linux environments (Red Hat preferred)
  • Experience with C
CLEARANCE:
  • Active Secret clearance required upon start
DESIRED:
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) projects
  • Experience with Xilinx Vivado/SDK
  • Ability to perform project planning and schedule management
