Sr. Project & Portfolio Manager

Description:6 months. Remote but must be local to Providence area.

Responsibilities:
  • Support strategic project planning and establish PMO Center of Excellence
  • Drive change and continual process improvement into PMO COE Project Implementation Methodology
  • Enable execution of PMO strategic plan to implement targeted change through IT and agencies
  • Identify and remediate evolving gaps and emerging needs in skills, process and tool capabilities, and capacity to achieve a greater level of maturity as a PMO organization
  • Maintain project portfolio master resource and projects delivery schedule
  • Collaborate with program managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department
  • Analyze, evaluate, and overcome program risks, and produce program reports for management and stakeholders
  • Work with business leaders to define, prioritize, and develop project plans
  • Collaborate with PMO Project Delivery manager to set standards for documenting project's initiation, development, and execution
  • Collaborate with PMO Governance Manager to define PMO metrics and drive accurate project metrics and reporting
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate PMs to ensure consistent disciplines are being implemented for managing scope, schedule, budgets, communication, and risks of major projects
  • Manage complex projects with a goal of litmus-testing COE’s processes and best practices, as well as to identify areas that might cause overhead to a PM
  • Ensure effective Change Management occurs in a strategic manner throughout the project life cycle providing thought leadership based on experience and expertise.
  • Clarify and resolve issues and lead conflict resolution

Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or similar field
  • At least 10 years of combined PMO, program, and project management experience
  • Extensive portfolio and project management experience
  • Experience with evaluation, planning, and deployment of large, multi-phased SaaS / COTS applications
  • Experience with waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • In-depth technical project and change management knowledge
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically in various situations
  • Exceptional presentation and written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work collaboratively
  • PMI and Agile certifications a huge plus
