East Cooper Montessori Charter School is growing and needs additional highly qualified, multi-talented educators to round out the Middle School staff. The Montessori Middle School model is run on a two-year cycle with students remaining in the care and guidance of their teachers throughout both years. As a result, students stay with their teachers throughout the day without changing classes. The Montessori Middle School teacher works tirelessly to gain the interest of each child, enthuse and capitalize on the interests of the group, and stand back to take a supportive role when the student becomes engaged in his own work. Patience, a sense of humor, and a wide variety of interests bring perspective to the work and enhance each childs experience. Do you love to learn, create and innovate? Required Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters in Education.
Licensing/Certification: SC State Board of Education State Certification in two Core areas Math/Science or ELA/SS, Gifted & Talented Endorsement. Experience & Training: School-sponsored Montessori Training will be required after one year.
Position Responsibilities:
-Follow all ECMCS policy and procedures
-Become knowledgeable about Montessori methodology, terminology and practices
-Provide creative instructional experiences as they relate to Montessori curriculum expectations and Common Core Standards
-Select and gather appropriate curriculum materials
-Maintain any records and submit reports deemed necessary by ECMCS
-Maintain confidentiality for all identifiable information
Secondary Functions:
-Perform all other duties as assigned by the designated supervisor
-Establish and maintain cooperative and supportive relationships with parents, students and colleagues
-Attend and participate at staff meetings
-Attend open houses and other school functions
-Conduct one parent education session per year
