Overview

INFORMATION SECURITY ANALYST (BCSS-22-1300-W):

Bowhead seeks an Information Security Analyst to support the NIWC ISSS Cooperative Engagement Capability contract located in Charleston, SC. The Information Security Analyst will support the upcoming Cybersecurity Information Technology contract. This contract is tasked with Cybersecurity Test & Evaluation, Cybersecurity Engineering, and Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities for the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) & Communications As A Service (CAAS) Cybersecurity Support, and other systems. Specifically, this support will encompass Risk Management Framework tasks, engineering activities, and recommendations for technical support for multiple projects and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data from a variety of Computer Network Defense (CND) tools (including data from approved information assurance (IA) tools to include intrusion detection system alerts, firewall and network traffic logs, and host system logs) to analyze events that occur within their environment.
  • Apply analytical skills to this data and all compliance with relevant non-technical controls, such as physical security and configuration management, to perform an audit function for the Agent of the Certification Authority (ACA) or other government Information Assurance (IA) Manager for mitigation of risks and reporting to include report generation for certification and accreditation packages or Certification of Net-worthiness efforts.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of policies, procedures, orders, etc. and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in providing STIG verification, DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) support on all applicable federal IT systems and programs scheduled for IA accreditation.
  • Support the development of the cybersecurity requirements into the System Requirements Specification (SRS) and other derivative product specifications (e.g. A-level specification, B-level specification).
  • Analyze current and proposed architecture, system Concept of Operations and other system design documentation at various levels of maturity to derive cybersecurity requirements.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in in engineering, computer science, information assurance, programming, or a related field is required. All undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Science (BS), Bachelor of Arts (BA), or Associate of Science (AS) in Applied Science, Computing, Engineering, and Technology shall be from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program (see https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/5118CQWRlQuBqZp7i5M8TYJ?domain=abet.org).
  • Certified in accordance with DoDD 8570.1 Information Assurance Technician III and subject to meeting subsequent requirements of latest DoD 8140 manual.
Experience:
  • Minimum ten years (10) experience providing support in the prevention of damage to, protection of, and restoration or computers, electronic communications systems, electronic communications services, wire communication, and electronic communication to ensure data availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and nonrepudiation; at a minimum, individual shall be able to design secure systems, write secure computer code, and create the tools needed to prevent, detect, mitigate, and reconstitute information systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
