Job ResponsibilitiesDirects and supervises programs and staff of the ACE Basin NERR, BIG, CVA and land management. Builds and oversees development of a competent and effective programmatic office with proficient technical and administrative personnel who provides support for division and deparment-wide initiatives. Coordinates administrative aspects of the ACE NERR, including (but not limited to) budgets, grants, facilities, annual work plans and other professional duties. Oversees development of long-range plans which provide a rational basis for making program decisions about the Coastal Reserves and the Outreach section. Provides interface with our national, regional and local partners at NOAA and participates in strategic planning and setting priorities, goals and objectives that may set direction for the next five years. Oversees all aspects of planning and operations for the Coastal Reserves, which include Caper Island and Victoria Bluff. Specific duties relating to these properties include overseeing maintenance of facilities, equipment and infrastructure; ensuring timely responses to requests from the public for information and permits; coordinating with research interests; coordinating with private and public education programs; administering funds and managing staff associated with the program; and, coordinating all actions with managers sharing overlapping interests and authority. Assists in the management and leadership of the Marine Resources Division, including regular participation in senior staff meetings, regional efforts and agency-wide activities.Minimum and Additional RequirementsA master's degree and three (3) years of related experience; or a bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge and experience in coastal ecosystems, coastal management or policy and education program development and implementation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and partners in one-on-one and small and large group settings. Knowledge of DNR and NOAA missions, and appropriate programs and objectives. Knowledge of DNR and NOAA organizational structure and staff managing the work processes and applicable to the Reserve's work. Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations. Ability to manage work and provide guidance to employees. Ability to make presentations and prepare reports. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks at once, prioritize tasks and commitments, handle complex problems and develop and analyze creative solutions to those problems. Demonstrated ability to manage people (staff) and the public with often conflicting interests.
