Job Summary

Thereis one position available that will be filled at the Associate Gas Controlleror Gas Controller level commensurate with the selected candidate's skills and experience.

Berkshire Hathaway Energy Gas, Transmission & Storage (BHE GT&S) is growing and has an exciting opportunity available in our Greystone office in Columbia, SC.

This role is responsible for the management of the daily natural gas operations to meet the overall physical requirements of the pipeline system. This role utilizes the SCADA system to monitor and control gas facilities by operating remote control valves, regulators and compressors and ensure that pipeline pressures stay within Maximum Allowable Operating Pressures (MAOP).

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: •Direct field personnel during pipeline repairs and outages and for the operation of the transmission, production, storage and distribution facilities during normal, abnormal and emergency situations. •Respond to SCADA alarms by adjusting pressures and flows as needed and notifying field personnel. •Analyze gas control data and independently implements gas volumes and pressures to meet market requirements. •Implement the daily operating plan to support the economic, efficient, and reliable operations of the gas system. •Coordinates and directs the pipeline pigging operations for pipeline integrity and compliance. •Develop a professional working relationship with field personnel, pipeline contacts, and other departments that interact with Gas Control. •Coordinate nominations with suppliers and storage partners. •Comply with all government regulations for Control Room and Alarm Management by maintaining records of gas control operations. •Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Requirements(Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

Associate Gas Controller: •0 plus yearscombined natural gas, analytical, utility, process operation/control (field, paper, water, chemical, etc.) or related experience

Gas Controller: •A minimum of three years combined natural gas, analytical, utility, process operation/control (field, paper, water, chemical, etc.) or related experience preferred. •One year in an entry level Gas Controller role is preferred prior to moving to this level.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Both Levels: •Must be able to respond within 40 minutes to the SC Greystone (Columbia, SC) office or be willing to relocate to meet the 40-minute response time. •Must be willing to work a rotating shift including days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and callout. •Must possess and maintain a valid drivers' license. •Must report to the work location; No remote work •Knowledge of company operations, pipeline network and facilities (compressor stations, storage pools, production systems, etc.). •Working knowledge of natural gas safety and emergency plans/procedures. •Working knowledge of Control Room Management (CRM) regulations and procedures. •Basic knowledge of FERC regulations and other regulatory requirements, as needed. •Ability to analyze and interpret data, detect errors and recommend changes. •Good understanding of operation of computerized equipment and standard office equipment. •Demonstrated ability to be able to write clearly when recording data and completing shift turnover records. •Ability to be able to utilize station specific knowledge. •Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing internally and externally. •Ability to establish and maintain rapport both internally and externally. •Ability to be able to see objects at close range and be able to distinguish between colors. •Ability to manage work and perform varied tasks simultaneously. •Ability to remain focused and to respond competently under pressure to changing pipeline conditions. •Ability to detect anomalies and remain calm and focused in emergencies. •Ability to work independently and as a team member. •Excellent reasoning and problem solving skills.

Preferences for Both Levels: •Gas Control or other Control Room experience •Control Room Mangement experience •FERC knowledge •Gas industry experience

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate

Disciplines: Preferred: Engineering Technology

Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Gas Control Operation qualifications such as LMS, OQ, etc. required.

Working Conditions

Office Work Environment 76 -100%

Other Working Conditions

Six week rotating shift which includes 12 hour shifts, 8 hour shifts, days, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and callouts.
