JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Are you looking for a challenging career that offers great work life balance?

The South Carolina Department of Administration has a great opportunity in the Division of Information Security (DIS). Under limited supervision, this employee will primarily be responsible for coordinating and verifying delivery of services provided by IT contractors, vendors and related support staff, in order to ensure that contractual commitments are delivered timely and within budget, and that overall performance expectations are being met with regard to in-scope services or technologies. This position will also be responsible for:
  • Activities related to the purchase of technologies and services for the Division.
  • Executing the IT vendor management strategy, ensuring that IT vendors are delivering maximum value through their services by evaluating vendor performance and establishing internal policies, standards, processes and templates.
  • Developing and providing analysis of reports related to IT contracted services to management that demonstrate vendor effectiveness and identify potential improvements of vendor tasks and work products.
  • Tracking and communicating to management any potential inability for vendors to deliver on required services.
  • Aiding in the procurement process related to the purchase of technologies and services managed or overseen by the Division by working closely with DIS leadership and other stakeholders. Exercising discretion and sound judgment on matters pertaining to procurement, contract management and finance.

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree related to business, finance, information technology and/or information security; or an Associate degree related to business, finance, information technology and/or information security and at least two (2) years’ experience in information security; or a high school diploma and at least four (4) years’ experience in business, finance, information technology and/or information security. Or, an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR).

Additional Requirements: a basic understanding of the technology or services delivered by the vendor. Knowledge of IT products and services (software and hardware) and current trends (cloud, digital and mobile). Strong people skills, with the ability to motivate, energize and drive performance is a must. Must have exceptional intellectual, professional and interpersonal agility with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to execute sound judgment, work collaboratively and communicate with senior management team are considered crucial to this position. Compliance certifications must be kept up-to date as required. May require overnight travel and/or reporting to work outside of regularly scheduled working hours evenings and weekends. A valid South Carolina driver's license is required. Routine driver duties are required. Position requires up-to-date certifications. May require reporting to work during emergency situations. May require carrying a state issued cell phone. Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Two (2) or more years in project/asset management, procurement, and vendor relations in a technology environment.
